Dr. Fleming

Elizabeth Fleming, DO, has joined the staff of Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minn., as a hospitalist.

Dr. Fleming earned her medical degree from Des Moines University in Iowa. She completed her residency at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul and her hospital fellowship at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.

Don Lee, MD, MPH, FACP, CHCQM-PHYADV, SFHM, an internal medicine hospitalist for Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee was recently inaugurated as the 173rd president of the Wisconsin Medical Society. He is also on the faculty as a clinical assistant professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin and treasurer of SHM’s Wisconsin chapter.

Dr. Lee’s career interests include clinical integration, accountable care, quality improvement, and health care policymaking and he served on several committees at Columbia St. Mary’s involving quality improvement, medical education, community benefits, and medication safety.

Born in Madison and raised in La Crosse, he graduated from Harvard College in Cambridge, Mass., with a degree in government and economics and received a medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee followed by an MPH in Health Care Management at the Harvard School of Public Health.

In the community, Dr. Lee volunteers at a medical student-run free clinic in Milwaukee and serves as the treasurer of the Reede Scholars, Inc, a nonprofit organization started by members of the Commonwealth Fund Harvard University Fellowship in Minority Health Policy focusing on issues related to minority health. 

Dr. Perros

Nicholas Perros, MD, has joined the staff of Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington, Maine as a hospitalist. Previously he was a hospitalist at Maine Medical Center. His interests include health disparities in the geriatric population.

Dr. Perros earned his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Ill., and completed his internal medicine residency at Maine Medical Center.

Dr. Santos

Patricia Santos, MD, MBA, has been appointed as the associate chief of quality and safety for the division of hospital medicine at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

She will be in charge of monitoring quality metrics for her group and will continue to engage in various quality improvement projects within the division and the enterprise. Her main goal during her tenure is to increase faculty and resident engagement in patient safety and quality improvement.

Dr. Santos earned her MD-MBA dual degree from the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health in the Philippines. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Kentucky and stayed as faculty with the division of hospital medicine. Apart from her new role, she also chairs the oncology co-management service and serves as core faculty with the internal medicine residency program.

Dr. Weaver

Daniel T. Weaver, MD, FACP, FASAM, has been appointed as the consult and co-management associate chief within the division of hospital medicine at the University of Kentucky, Lexington.

Dr. Weaver joined the University of Kentucky division of hospital medicine in 2015. He previously served as the medical director of the hospital medicine consult and fragility fracture service. Additionally, he has been heavily involved in the addiction consultation and education service at the University of Kentucky since its inception. In his new role, he will work to expand the footprint of the hospital medicine co-management services at the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Weaver earned his medical degree from University College, Cork in Cork, Ireland, and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Kentucky.
