AFib Screening Cuts Hospitalizations and ED Visits

Key clinical point: Asymptomatic people diagnosed with atrial fibrillation by screening had fewer hospitalizations or ED visits than people diagnosed through usual surveillance.

Major finding: AFib cases found by screening had 80% fewer hospitalizations and 65% fewer ED visits than AFib patients identified by surveillance.

Study details: mSToPS, which included 5,109 Americans followed for 12 months.
