This piece, “Late Nights,” was created after a block of busy shifts in which there was a surge. Being a hospitalist can be tiring at times, but I find it still very rewarding.

Dr. Chan is a hospitalist for Providence Medical Associates and the department chair of family medicine for Providence Little Company of Mary Torrance Hospital, both in Torrance, Calif. She also has a studio at Destination: Art in Torrance, where she has been a studio artist since 2024.
